SGT. J.C. Myers’s, E.A. Galen, Jr.
Three Kirby brothers: Newton, Benjamin and James Polk were from Mixon. They served in the Confederacy and died in Arkansas. James and Benjamin died of pneumonia in Little Rock, burial sites unknown. It’s suspected Newton died at Harper’s Ferry, Arkansas and is buried in a mass grave.

Joseph J. Barrington 1838-1924
Joseph Barrington was born in Pitt Co., N.C., son of William T. Barrington and Jerusha "Rusia" Boyd. He married Hetty Mobley in 1856 and had (2) children: William Henry Barrington (1859-1951) named after his brother and Mary J. Barrington (King) (7 Apr 1857-6 Mar 1929) named after his sister.
Joseph fought for the South in the Civil War, 13th Batt., Co. D, North Carolina Infantry. Enlisted 25 Jan 1862, mustered out 16 Aug 1863.
He moved his family from North Carolina to Texas between 1870-1880. Information provided by Susan Barrington.

Gaberien D. Coltellaro
Mr. Coltellaro graduated from Troup High School in 1997 and was a veteran of the U. S. Army 4th mechanized infantry division out of Fort Hood where he operated the M1A1 Abrams Tank, was awarded the Army Commanders Medal for saving the lives of others and he was employed as a fabricator at Stencor Company in Jacksonville.
Gabe loved fishing and hunting and all outdoor activities. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Troup.
Survivors include parents, Barbara and Keith Lindsey of Mixon; sister, Kala Lindsey of Mixon.
